Union Pacific’s LEAD celebrates 20 years of empowering women
Bellevue, Nebraska – Union Pacific Railroad’s LEAD, a groundbreaking Employee Resource Group dedicated to empowering women, is marking its 20th anniversary with an all-day conference. Set for Oct. 3 in Bellevue, this conference promises enriching experiences for its members, with scheduled appearances from some of the country’s most influential women executives.
A Glance at the Illustrious Speaker Line-up
Tamika L. Tremaglio, the esteemed Executive Director of the National Basketball Players Association, is set to deliver the keynote address. Additionally, Missy Pearlman, General Manager of Toyota North America, will shed light on the significance of assertiveness and daring in the workplace.
LEAD, an acronym for Lead. Educate. Achieve. Develop., was established in 2003 as an initiative to amplify and create opportunities for women within Union Pacific. Notably, Beth Whited, the first woman to become Union Pacific’s President in its 161-year old legacy, is among its pioneering members. Whited, who also held the position of LEAD’s second president, is on the speaker roster for the conference. Joining her will be other Union Pacific stalwarts, including CEO Jim Vena and CFO Jennifer Hamann.
In tune with this year’s theme, “Be Bold & Lead”, the conference will host a panel discussion with the participation of prominent figures like:
- Carolyn Lee, helming the Manufacturing Institute as its President and Executive Director.
- Dr. Joanne Li, the Chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
- Aileen Warren, the President and CEO of ICAN.
- Ada Walker, holding the reins as Vice President-Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer at Nebraska Medicine.
- Joni Wheeler, serving as the Executive Vice President of Talent and Enterprise Solutions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska.
