Pedestrian killed after entering west Omaha roadway, deputies say
LINCOLN, Nebraska – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in West Omaha on Friday morning.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called near 264th Street and West Dodge Road shortly after midnight.
A driver told deputies he was driving west on West Dodge Road when a pedestrian suddenly appeared on the road.
The pedestrian was hit and first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver said he stopped to render assistance. MPs say there were no signs the driver was impaired or negligent.
Deputies are hiding the pedestrian’s identity as they work to contact next of kin.
An investigation is underway.
